      ABA therapy and Autism testing
      • ABA Therapy

At Kids and Family Counseling, we believe that effective Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is rooted in compassion, individualized support, and evidence-based strategies that empower children and families. Our approach prioritizes meaningful skill development tailored to each child's unique strengths, needs, and cultural background. We emphasize naturalistic, play-based learning and collaboration with families to ensure that progress extends beyond the therapy setting into everyday life.

Our team of clinicians bring a wide range of talents. We are actively involved in research, publication, presenting at global conferences, parents to children on the spectrum, neurodiverse staff, and more. We bring in values and representation of the communities we serve. This is what sets us apart from other agencies.

      • How We Do Things

        broken image

        Play Based and Naturalistic

Naturalistic Environment Teaching (NET) and a play-based approach focus on learning in real-life situations through fun and meaningful activities. Instead of rigid lessons, we use play and everyday interactions to teach new skills in a way that feels natural and engaging. This helps individuals build communication, social, and problem-solving skills in a way that makes sense to them, leading to better learning and real-world application.

        Cognitive and Learning Theory

Cognitive and learning theory helps us understand how people take in information, make sense of it, and remember it. It shows that learning works best when people are actively involved, get support when needed, and can connect new ideas to what they already know. Using these principles, we create teaching and therapy approaches that make learning easier, more effective, and meaningful for each person.

        Assent Based

Assent-based treatment is an approach that prioritizes the individual’s willingness and active participation in their own care, particularly in behavioral and therapeutic settings. Rather than relying solely on compliance, this model emphasizes collaboration, choice, and respect for autonomy, ensuring that interventions align with the person's preferences and comfort level. By fostering engagement and reducing coercion, assent-based treatment enhances trust, promotes self-determination, and leads to more meaningful and sustainable progress.

        Personalized Experience

We believe that every person learns and grows in their own unique way, so we tailor our approach to fit each client’s needs, strengths, and goals. By taking the time to understand their preferences, challenges, and interests, we create personalized strategies that make learning and skill-building more effective and meaningful. This ensures that every individual gets the support they need in a way that works best for them.

        Localized Supervision

All of our master's-level and higher clinicians are local, ensuring they have a deep understanding of the communities we serve. They provide at least 50% or more of their support in person, working directly with our behavior technicians to offer hands-on guidance, real-time feedback, and high-quality supervision. This commitment to in-person support helps create a stronger, more effective team that delivers the best care for our clients.

The 48-day program provides ABA and Speech Therapy 4 days a week for 48 days at 3 hours per day. After the intensive day program, families have the option to continue with on-going ABA therapy.
