In 2024 Andy Song PhD, BCBA, LMHCA - presented his research on the use of AI and supports for learners with special needs and learning disabilities. The multidimensional approach to learning theory ressonated with the reviewers and ultimately awarded Andy Song. Researchers represented 15+ countries and centered around education and learning.

Kids and Family Counseling was featured in the puget sound business journal for the exceptional work and community service that is provided to some of the most vulnerable communicaties in WA. KAFC is breaking ground in redefining how ABA services can be delivered while balancing a sustainable, ethical, and profitable model of clinical operations. In a time where medical services are hemorrhaging families, taking advantage of clinicians, and creating barriers to services, the team at KAFC has shown that a small town company can pave the way in reshaping how clinical operations can support everyone involved.

Advancing ABA Through Research and Innovation

KAFC is proud to participate with UC Davis in research evaluating the Early Start Denver Model, an evidence based approach designed to support learning, communication, social development, and engagement in young autistic children. Our involvement reflects a commitment that goes beyond simply using established interventions: we believe ABA providers should remain actively connected to the research that continues to shape and improve the field. By participating in the research process, our clinicians have opportunities to engage with emerging practices, strengthen clinical decision making, and help bridge the gap between academic research and the everyday needs of children and families. This commitment distinguishes KAFC from traditional service delivery models by creating a culture where clinical practice is continuously informed by science, evaluation, and ongoing learning. In 2020, Kids and Family Counseling was recognized through the Pierce County Champions for Children Award, an honor celebrating individuals and organizations making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. The recognition reflected KAFC’s commitment to expanding access to behavioral and mental health services, particularly for children with developmental disabilities and families who have historically experienced barriers to receiving care. For our team, the award represents more than an organizational accomplishment; it reflects the reason KAFC was created: to advocate for children, strengthen families, and ensure that every child has access to compassionate, individualized support.
